On blisters (and carrots)

I’m used to getting blisters at work. The sort caused by touching glass before its had a chance to cool down properly.

I’m not used to getting blisters from washing carrots…

    1. Hehe – good thing I found out for you then! 😉
I harvested half the bed on Sunday evening, with the intention of getting them washed, sliced and frozen before bed. Then I figured out I no longer have a veggie brush 🙁 I could have peeled them I suppose, but some of them were so small I’d’ve ended up with matchsticks! Using a cloth and finger nails worked (slooowly), but I ended up with a blister on my thumb 🙁 and no time left to chop them up and get them in the freezer! Moral of the story? Veggie brushes are more awesome than I thought 🙂

  1. 🙂 Worth it though to have home-grown carrots to crunch on.
P.S I just noticed you started your blog on my birthday – we can celebrate together this year.

  2. I just saw your post and thought “Carrot Soup” when I saw all those lovely squeaky clean examples of rabbit-loved food. But alas they have gone into your freezer as veggie, not soup. Ah well, they can always become soup from the freezer I suppose. {You may not be able to tell from this that I love soup!
PS I have a natty little gadget that would have oh, so thinly peeled you carrots in record time. Pity you didn’t drop in to borrow it for the evening.

    1. Pity you didn’t tell me you had one earlier! 😉 I was going to use my amazing “kitchen machine” to chop them, but it striked (struck?). I used it a couple of weeks ago for grinding spuds (strange German recipe) and the juice got in the motor and made it blow up 🙁 🙁 so I’m back to old fashioned chopping until I can take it back and get a new one….

I love soup too! DB isn’t keen though so I don’t make much these days 🙁 Do you have a special recipe for carrot soup?
