On getting back on the wagon…

..or train, depending on preference.

I am back on the train to work after nearly two weeks sick leave. I’m not sure how much better I am than before, but anyway. Here I am.

Not much has changed.

Getting up early is still awful. The train is marginally less full – I have a seat today – but I’m putting that down to it being holiday season and generally less busy.

Maybe I can get into the habit of writing when I’m on the train. I thought it was writing on my phone that put me off a bit. I’m guessing I was wrong. Faced with 12 days at home I spent practically no time on WordPress, and even those few minutes were on my phone. Ho hum. I did start posts, I just didn’t finish or publish them. I shall do that now.

I also had a request for an article for the English glassblowing magazine.
I didn’t write that either.

Instead, I sat in the sun reading, or slept, or filed paperwork (I’m almost finished – whoo!!), or fought the washing, or sorted out our finances, or worked on setting up a computer for work. Relaxing things requiring very little energy. I spread the slightly more physical jobs (like hanging the washing out) over the day.
Over the first few days I noticed how I started achieving more before heading back to bed. The last few days have been a bit of a setback. This morning feels almost like 2 weeks ago. Granted, I can open bottles again and lifting multi packs of loo rolls doesn’t take a huge amount of effort (that was when I realised something was wrong-er than just being tired), but I’m not oozing energy either.

Maybe staying at home would get boring after a while. I know I wasn’t bored and I have a list of all the things I still want to do and which I don’t get done when I’m working.

    1. Hehe πŸ™‚ Actually, you don’t… you sound like someone else’s mother πŸ™‚

      That’s good advice though πŸ™‚ just a shame some things are impatient! (/or have been waiting a while already..)

      As much as I want to be well again, I could’ve done with another week or so at home. However, I was only given sick leave until yesterday :/ I go to the specialist tomorrow so maybe she’ll tell me to go back to bed!

  1. Back on the proverbial horse. Sorry to hear you’re not feeling much better — hope work doesn’t aggravate things too much.

    It sounds like you were productive while you were off, which I am sure is a good feeling. Even, if it was a relaxing kind of productive. πŸ˜€

    Take ‘er easy and listen to your body the best you can. I know this is easier said than done, but after the past two months of having severe tummy troubles myself, trying to go back to work and all that, it really is the only way to go.

    1. Thank you! πŸ™‚ I’m working on it πŸ™‚ 2 months is a long time to be ill – I hope you don’t mind if I don’t follow your example!
      As far as work goes, it could be a lot worse. I have a long commute, but I luckily don’t have to work all that hard at one of my jobs.

  2. Well I’m glad you’re not sick anymore – I hate waking u pearly too. Though, the rooster next door (yes, my neighbors have a rooster) wakes me up at 7 am sharp every day so I’m getting used to it. I seem to wake up at 6:55 actually, so maybe waking up early just takes some conditioning. You’ll get some more energy soon (;
