On keys (and castles)

According to a worn out proverb/saying/phrase, an Englishman’s home is his castle.

This English girl has a new Castle πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I don’t have a moat, or even a pond*,Β but I do have a balcony (and a cellar). And 60 square metres of floor all to myself. (Wheeeeeeee!)

I signed the papers on Tuesday, got the keys on Friday, and have been gradually collecting furniture to put in it. (That’s a future post in it’s own right).

Not your typical castle door, I’ll have to get some decent black hinges organised πŸ™‚

I haven’t moved yet. The landlord has a few things he needs to change/mend/work on first, and since I had 2 exams at the weekend (yet another future post) and still need to sort out an electricity company, and wash the floor, and pick up some more shelves and a bed, and move all of my things, I can’t see that it’s a problem. After 3 1/2 years (or 4 depending on how you’re counting) I reckon a week here or there is mostly irrelevant.

*Β another post – there are so many things to write out of my head…

Hallo luffly peoples, I am going to try catching up on all your posts and comments and what-have-yous soon. Life’s a bit crazy at the moment, but I’m planning to have a more relaxed summer πŸ™‚

It did and I am and thank you πŸ™‚
Now I’ve finally finished school I can get on with getting my castle sorted out πŸ™‚ Watch this space! πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you! πŸ™‚ I hope so too πŸ™‚ I haven’t allowed myself much time to jessify it yet, but I have plenty of plans – likely more than I can ever carry out!

It’s already fantastic to know that it’s mine (even if it is only rented) and that I can do what I like in it. I can stay up late writing, I can drape towels from the door handles and collect washing up like a professional. I can spend all day putting up cupboards and forget about eating until 10pm. I can play the music I want to listen to and wear what I want to wear, regardless of the holes and stains. I can sit on the bed, sleep on the sofa, paint on the floor. I can put pictures up on all the walls and I can leave my shopping in the hall while I read the newspaper. No one rushes me when I’m on my way out somewhere (and I don’t make anybody late except myself). I can start things and leave them out with plans to come back to it later and forget about it for a week. I can choose everything or nothing. And then I can change my mind.

I probably sound incredibly slovenly, and some of it probably is, but I love it and I’m pretty sure it’s not all bad πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

      1. What makes you happy is not bad – I have slowly learnt this truth. Now I don’t stress so much about lots of little things that I thought were huge. Life goes on, I am calmer, happier and less cranky. Here’s to doing what you want, we you want, how you want.
